Guide for Authors
I. General instructions
(A) Papers must be submitted in their final form, bearing in mind that no further correction/addition is possible. (B) The manuscript should be submitted for peer review in two printed copies. For final submitting of revised manuscript after review, use template and web form on http://geolines.gli.cas.cz/ (C) Manuscripts must be written in English. (D) Texts written with Microsoft Word or supplied in RTF format can be readily processed. (E) Figures, tables and photos should also be sending via geolines.gli.cas.cz or eventually by e-mail: geolines(at)gli.cas.cz.
II. Illustrations
(A) We highly prefer single-column (80 mm), or double-column (165 mm) width formats of figures. Maximum height is 243 mm. Computer-generated figures only! Accepted picture formats: AI, PSD, CDR, PS, EPS, PDF, GIF, TIF, JPEG, BMP. The density of bitmap graphic format (PSD, TIF, JPEG, BMP) must be in 600 dpi density.
(B) The minimum letter size in the final-size copy (width 80 mm or 165 mm) must be 1.5 mm. (C) Laser-printed illustrations are acceptable. In such cases please also provide a disc copy. (D) Each figure must have a caption. All figure captions should be typed on a separate sheet and be double spaced. Should a figure fall apart into several subfigures, the explanatory test should be given for each subfigure separately, marked by the respective symbol in parentheses, e.g. (a). (E) The abbreviation and the respective explanatory test must be separated by a sign of equation, the individual explanations must be separated by a semi-colon, e.g. MLC = Mariánské Lázně Complex; p = pegmatites. All text explanations necessary for the overall understanding of the message of the picture should be contained in the picture itself. Anyway, text in the figures should be kept to a minimum.
III. Tables
(A) A table should not exceed the printed area of the page. The maximum format of the tables is 167 × 236 mm. (B) Each table must have a brief and self-explanatory title. Column headings should be brief but sufficiently explanatory. (C) Units of measurement should be given in parentheses. Vertical lines must not be used to separate columns – leave extra space between the columns instead (use e.g. Word for Windows format Simple 1).

(A) The following system should be used for arranging references (examples):

(B) In the case of publications in any language other than English, the original title is to be retained. Titles of publications in non-Latin alphabets should be transliterated, and a note such as ‘(in Czech)’ or ‘(in Czech, with English Abstr.)’ should be added at the end of the reference.
V. Miscellaneous
(A) Use dashes to give ranges, either numerical or verbal. The usage of hyphens should be restricted to compound words. Both dashes and hyphens are used without spaces. Example: 65-43 Ma, 700-850 °C, 8-10 kbar, 10-20 km, Cenomanian-Turonian vs. fine-grained, high-temperature-low-pressure (HTLP) etc. Mathematical signs (+, –, =, ±, >, < ) are preceded and followed by spaces, e.g. 500 ± 0.6, k1 = k2. In numbers, thousands must be separated by a comma, e.g. 15,000.
